Legal Geek hits the road
Legal Geek - 11/06/2017

If you’ve been following the Legal Geek story since we got started, then you’ll notice that our Startup Map has become an authority for LawTech in the UK. But we know we’ve only scratched the surface of all the cool ways that lawtech startups can change the legal industry for the better – not just for lawyers, but for society as a whole. That’s why it’s important for us to get out of the London bubble and see what’s going on in the wider world. So Jimmy says:

In the past few months I’ve been to speak at events in Spain, France and the Netherlands. It’s been enlightening and inspiring to hear from innovators across the continent. When it comes to cutting edge LawTech, everyone instinctively looks to the US, as well as our UK Legal Geek community, but it’s crucial to recognize that Europe is a hotbed of innovation in legal technology, and the startups attracting investment across Europe right now have the potential to change everything.

That’s why we decided to take our show on the road, with our 2017 Road Trip. We’re leaving London behind aboard a trusty VW camper van called Betty, in search of more startups and stories. First stop is Amsterdam, where we’re hosting an event with Dutch Legal Tech Meetup; then on to Berlin to speak at the European Legal Tech Association Conference on the 16th, and host the afterparty. Then if you’re in Brussels on the 21st, you can catch our drinks and networking event at BeCentral, followed by another event in Paris on the 26th. The next day we’ll roll Betty back into London, hopefully via a shower, to an event with Thomson Reuters where we’ll reflect on the trip and discuss what’s hot in European LawTech. Check out this page for info on all the stops on our Road Trip – it’d be great to see you there – www.legalgeek.co/legal-geek-road-trip-2017

Road Trip is about learning what’s new in Europe, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing solutions our friends out there have been cooking up. But it’s also about promoting the UK – it would be fair to say that there’s a bit of turmoil and uncertainty in the UK business and political environments, and it’s really important to us that we give startups a voice in Europe, to remind and reassure them that we’re full of entrepreneurs brimming with great ideas that could empower the industry now and in the future. That’s why we’re working with the Department for International Trade, as well as London and Partners, on this trip. If clients and law firms are international, then LawTech must be too.

Stay tuned to our social media channels on Twitter and our dedicated Road Trip microsite for all the latest news, views and embarrassing photos from the Road Trip, and don’t forget to say hello if you can make it to one of our events. Bon voyage!
